Newcastle and Gateshead Art Fair.

It feels like months have gone past since my last blog post, so much has happened, so many people, meetings and ‘things’ going on.  All great positive stuff though, and it all started off with last weekends Art Fair at The Sage, Gateshead.

Showing work with a Gallery at art fairs is a great thing, huge exposure to new audiences for your work, but to go and do one, actually pyhsically do the set-up, and have the opportunity to chat to your potential customers takes it all to a whole new level.  Seriously… hat’s off to the guys at galleries who do this on a fairly regular basis…it’s no mean feat and well worth every penny commission they take from selling your work on your behalf.

This time I had been invited as a guest artist to show work with The Mick Oxley Gallery.  Alongside Micks powerful seascapes, myself and fellow artist Sarah Riseborough were asked if we  ‘would like a spot’ at the art fair alongside the other artists who inhabit this little gem of a gallery in Craster.  Well, how can a girl refuse an offer like that!  The ladies were of course delighted!  Making an exhibition of themselves at The Sage!!

Sarah and I set up ‘our bit’ of the stand on Wednesday afternoon and the rest of the work went up on Thursday with ample capable help from other artists and friends of Micks.  Let’s just say it was a big stand…. !!!

Straight on from hanging came the preview.  I can’t believe just how many people attended, well into the thousands, just amazing!  The ladies were yet again delighted… making an exhibition of themselves and with a huge audience, what better!

Somehow over the weekend Tony the intrepid photographer manged to coax some photos out of me, how he ever managed that will remain a mystery, I’d much rather be the other side of the camera!  I hope he doesn’t mind if I share one with you.

…what can I say… bacon butties all round!

So it was a busy affair, the art fair, constant streams of visitors to amuse my ladies, who I have to say were very well behaved, and lots of brand new exciting opportunities to boot, all of which will be revealed very very soon, should you, intrepid reader, choose to pop back for an update!

So what next…?  Well, three pieces of work will be winging their way to The McNeill Gallery in Radlett, Hertfordshire on Monday morning, which is very exciting. I plan to follow that Post Office trip with an hours worth of cake and coffee with my best girlie pal Emma, (yoohoo Em!!), then it’s right back here for a quick tidy up of the studio (which looks like that ladies have had a wild rave going on in my absence), then paint, paint, paint for the next super duper exciting event, which I will reveal to you next time, and I really can’t wait to share that one with you!!

(Oh, yes, I’ll get round to showing you the result of the ‘Picture Puzzle’ I posted on last time…see I haven’t forgotten!).

So on that note, I shall tootle off and leave you to enjoy your cuppa, slice of cake and fluffy slippers until next time.
Take lots of care, chat again soon,

Mxx
