It’s coffee time! (well, actually it’s almost tea time, but that’s splitting hairs!). Not wanting to be idle, I thought I’d drop in and say hello.
I’ve been tucked up in the studio all day with only my dog, two cats and some music for company. But it’s been cosy, and I have cracked along with some new work.
Do you want to see? Really? It’s not nearly finished yet, but since it’s you, I think I can afford a little peek. You’ll have to guess what it’s going to be. Lollipops for the right, closest or most original answer!
OK, here you go!
Hmmm, now what is going on here? If you come back at the weekend you’ll maybe find out!
There’s a lot to be getting on with here at the studio, a couple of great new galleries are interested in my work and of course the art fair at The Sage in Gateshead is looming. It’s all jolly exciting stuff. As always a million paintings are dashing about in my head, they’ve just heard I’ve ordered a huge box of new canvases, so they are forming an orderly queue to be the next one onto canvas!
So, what else has this little artist been up to, well, I spent 3 days last week helping out at the Mick Oxley Gallery in Craster, while Mick had a few days holiday. I had so much fun, it was great to get out and talk and laugh with all sorts of interesting people, it almost made me want to own a gallery…almost!
I afforded myself a day off on Sunday and actually fell asleep on the sofa… unheard of!
The rest of this week has been spent trying to catch up with the painting, as more work needs to be away this weekend, the results are…well, like I say, you’ll get to see soon!
So, on that note, I have finished my bucket of Nescafe, so I’ll head back to the easel until my poor overworked husband troops in from work (he’s promised to go and get a takeaway!).
Keep checking back though folks, it’s all happening right here!
See you again soon,

Bizarre things.... the most beautiful warm sunny day of the entire summer, no wind or lashing rain, no brooding clouds or distant thunder and what happens? POW!!! Power cut! Bizarre!
Anyway, strange happenings aside, it's been a lovely day, lots of positive things going on and most importantly for me (at least work wise), a whole stream of new painting ideas.
I have taken to carrying a little notebook and pencil round with me so if an idea pops of of nowhere I can capture the little devil before it makes off again! Sometimes I just jot down a sentence or a few words, or maybe a quick little layout sketch if the whole thing drops into my head with some semblance of composition. Either way it's jolly exciting and very motivating!
The paintings at the Bakehouse are still attracting a lot of attention and still selling, which is wonderful, and to be honest it's very rewarding (in more ways than one) to see little red dots appearing on the title cards. I have already begun work on new pieces, there simply aren't enough hours in the day for all the enthusiasm I have for these! It's a lovely feeling to go to bed at night excited about work tomorrow... I'm beginning to wonder if I'm normal (no, please, really, you don't have to answer that question, I am after all an artist!!).
I am spending the next three days down at the coast helping out a friend, I have no doubt at all that there will be many, many things for me to record in my little book whilst I'm there. How exciting!
Soooo, now that the power is back on, the chores are done, tea hungrily devoured, do you think I might squeeze in another couple of hours at the easel? Posted on Friday Sep 4 0:00:00 BST 2009
As I begin writing this post I am acutely aware of feeling totally overwhelmed and deserving of a bubbly bath, huge bar of Cadbury's Dairy Milk and a quiet lie down in a darkened room.
It's not very often I am lost for words, but, miracles do happen occasionally!
Lasts nights preview was amazing, I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it.
All in all, there were around 100 people through the gallery doors last night and the place was packed out. Food and wine flowed, laughter and stifled giggles as people found things to relate to and an all round feeling of friendly, good natured banter prevailed. Thank you to every last one of you who came along last night, you made it a very special evening indeed.
Fiona and Andy who own the Bakehouse Gallery made a huge effort last night, the place looked amazing and they went beyond the call of duty to make everyone welcome. Andy made a fabulous job of framing all the paintings, whilst Fiona made the best tiny cheese scones ever, and on top of that they lent me their beloved juke box to provide the music. Thanks guys, you did me proud!
People who have followed my work since it's early days turned out to lend their support as did lots of new people I haven't met before, it was great to renew old acquaintances and forge new ones, needless to say work sold and new interest in the work found, just amazing! It even managed to inspire a new young artist (hello Nathan, hope you're painting loads!).
I have a few photos to share at some point, when I get round to it in a few days, maybe when my head stops spinning!
So I'm having a couple of days off to spend with my family, they haven't seen much of me this summer so I owe them at least that much. BUT, Tuesday morning it will be all systems go again, there is a notebook stuffed with ideas for new paintings shoving and jostling to be at the front of the queue.
So, once again thank you to everyone who came along, for those of you who couldn't make it, the exhibition runs for the next three weeks, Tuesday to Saturday.
See you again soon,

Well, all the hard work of the past few months is now sitting snugly on the walls of The Bakehouse Gallery. The preview kicks off at 7pm, I only hope it stops raining before then, it's proper weather for ducks out there!
Hopefully tomorrow I shall be sitting here writing to you with my feet nestled in cosy slippers, a mug of steaming hot chocolate, and an tidy studio, setting out the next pieces in the puzzle for the next exhibition on the agenda.
Lots of creative ideas about that buzzing about already!
Drop by and find out how it all went! See you then,
